Broccoli And Cheese
Last night, my family began a new nightly tradition. Each night, a different member of the family will find a recipe and cook it for the family. Of course, the best chef had to go first! So it was my turn! I, obviously, decided to make my all time favorite dish: broccoli and cheese soup. One thing I learned tonight was that time management is crazy important when it comes to cooking. I did not plan accordingly and ended up serving dinner a few minutes late. However, since it was not a cooking competition and just my family, they were forgiving. I found a delicious recipe that was fairly easy to follow and went to work in the kitchen. Shout out to Cafe Delites for the amazingly delicious recipe(just to help y'all out, I put the link here).
I genuinely enjoyed cooking my family dinner and I am excited to prepare more meals throughout the year. I'm looking forward to eating at home more because it allows us all to make healthier choices. Eating out does not always let us make the best choices and since this body is the only one we have got, I think it's time to treat it right. That is a huge goal of mine for the next year. And the rest of my life. Now, enough of my spiel, enjoy this picture of the final presentation of my delicious meal!
My biggest issue was definitely my ignorance on what certain instructions were telling me to do. What in the world are chopped onions supposed to look like? The only form of cutting foods I recognize is dicing! I remember when I read that the garlic was to be minced I just looked my mother in the eye and said "How does one mince?" Quite a comical moment in my opinion. Anyway, I finally figured out how to make the soup and not trying to brag or anything, but it was some pretty good soup. My family agrees, even my dad! And he is not usually a fan of broccoli and cheese soup! My mom came up with the great idea to add a side salad, and I bought some rolls to dip into the soup. I've never said the word soup so many times in one paragraph...
